Dr Joanna Wright graduated from Cambridge and London Universities before returning to Australia and training in anatomical pathology at the Institute of Medical and Veterinary Science (IMVS), Adelaide. She held a position as Staff Specialist at the IMVS before becoming a specialist histopathologist at Gribbles Pathology in Adelaide. In 2003 Joanna joined Hobart Pathology and relocated to Launceston Pathology in 2009.
